Sevyn is at her throwback best on this deep cut from “Girl Disrupted.”

After many delays, Sevyn Streeter’s official debut Girl Disrupted was finally released Friday. The successful songwriter’s first solo full-length stretches from futuristic, synthetic pop to throwback R&B, with “Ol Skool” appropriately fitting into the latter category.

The track finds Sevyn collaborating with yet another strong voice in the songwriting game, Jeremih, as well as the versatile vocals of melodic rapper DeJ Loaf. Together, the three artists craft a traditional slow jam that merges old and new in its vocal ideas. On the hook, Sevyn takes a trip through rap and R&B history as she works R. Kelly’s debut, Lil Jon and more into her wordplay.
